There are lots of things to do and see around Union Creek Campground. This is the Rogue River flowing through the Gorge and Falls, about 2 minutes away from Union Creek Campground. There's a fenced hiking trail along the top edge. From the Salem Area (McMinnville) this campground is 4 hours and 25 minutes away.
This is the falls in the gorge 2 minutes away from the campground by car. You can walk there from the campground in about 30 minutes. It's a beautiful hike.
Here are a few pictures of Union Creek campground itself. Union creek is a little creek that flows into the Rogue River. Almost every single campsite is on the creek, and there are trails on both sides of the creek to hike and fish.
There are a variety of hiking trails to take.

They stock this creek once a week with good sized fish starting on Memorial Day. There are hiking trails through the campground, and it's also a good place for bike riding. It costs $17 a night to camp here (as of 2013), and $7 extra dollars per vehicle. There are three man made bridges across the creek. There is also an amphitheater and large covered picnic area at the campgrounds.
This campground is well maintained and the bathrooms are clean. There were a lot of families there when we went in the middle of summer. It's first come first serve but there are so many camp sites, I doubt they'll all ever fill up.
There's a wide variety of flower and plant life to look at in and around the campground and the rivers.
There is also a restaurant, general store, BBQ wagon, and ice cream stand across the road from the campground and waterfall. The restaurant is famous in Southern Oregon for their variety of pies including peanut butter pie. Across the road from the campground further up on Union Creek is also a resort with cabins, but we've never been up there. The nearest city is White City on the I-5 corridor, where there's a Wal-Mart. It's about a 50 minute drive. The nearest gas is in Prospect Oregon (14 minute drive) or Crater Lake (34 minute drive). There are also other campgrounds nearby, but they are not maintained by a host, and are not on the creek.
Things to do near Union Creek
Crater Lake is about 30 minutes from Union Creek. There's an expensive restaurant, expensive camping (about $40 a night), general store, and gift shops at Crater Lake.
The Rogue Umpqua scenic byway is a nice day trip to take from Union Creek. There are 5 or 6 waterfalls you can drive to. These are pictures of some of them. This is a great day trip and it's nice to have a picnic. The whole route 1 way from Union Creek to the farthest waterfall is about an hour. Round trip you can expect 2 and a half hours.
This is Togetee Falls and you have to take a 10 minute hike to get to it, but it's a pretty hike and not that hard. The rest of the waterfalls shown here you do not have to hike to, they are right beside the parking lot for each waterfall.
The only negative thing about these waterfalls is the mosquitos. You should bring good bug repellant. Wal-Mart sells good natural bug repellant without Deet.
It's my favorite place to camp because it's pretty and kid friendly, but also because if you want to take a day trip, you can see Crater lake and all the other waterfalls.
